Furthermore, we from Quara have amplified our offer of properties, reaching the land of Andalusia. The town of Vera , located in the province of Almería, brings together climate, landscapes, services, great cooking and celebrations.

Vera is, above all, andalusian land bathed in sunshine. Being at the Mediterranean seashore, the beaches of Vera are known because of their intense blue. With his pleasant climate all the year, enjoying the untouched beaches and the spectacular mountainous landscape will be assured in every season.

The town of Vera is located in the middle of a coastal plain, surrounded by mountains, and it serves as connection between the corredor de Tabernas, which passes between the coastal mountain range of Alhamilla and Cabrera and the mountains of Filabres (Bédar) in the south, and the corredor de Pulpí to the north, between Sierra de Almagro and Sierra Almagrera.

Thanks to his privileged situation, Vera is the ideal place to visit green spaces and natural reserves in his surroundings. A few of the most important trekking paths are:

• To the north, the natural reserve of Sierra María-Los Velez.
• To the West, the natural reserve Karst in Yesos de Sorbas, with his magnificent cavities and galleries, which form a unique underground complex
• To the south, the coastal mountains of Sierra Cabrera, the maritime-terrestrial natural reserve of Cabo de Gata-Níjar and the desert of Tabernas, contrast and “lobby” for the reserve of Sierra Nevada.

The gastronomy of the area is known for his good cooking. The cooking of Vera is entirely homemade, and the natural products of each season are spiced with the characteristic joy of the region. Between the typical meals, we can point out the following:

• Tortas de avío (round cake with anchovies)
• Gurullos con conejo (typical pasta with rabbit)
• Ajo colorao (Puree made of garlic, onion, paprika and potatoes, served cold)
• Guiso de pelotas a la Veratense (stew with meatballs)
• Olla de trigo (stew of wheat, with beans and meat)

Like in almost every region of Spain, Vera has different celebrations throughout the year. The most important ones are:

• Easter, which begins the Sunday before Palmsunday with a prayer in the church, and continues with the transfer of the Virgin to the church.
• Día de la Vieja, holiday which is being celebrated the Thursday in the middle of the Lent. The celebration consists in eating on the field with family or friends, and at dusk to break the “vieja (old), which is a doll made of coloured paper and with a head full of sweets.
• Carnival, celebration which has his origins in the first centuries of the modern age. There are parades of groups performing parodies of events from the local and comarcal life. You can also contemplate numerous costumes and masks.
