Flora

The Villamartin residential complex is surrounded by diversified and abundant vegetation creating an especially enchanting setting. Every one of the vegetative species that grow in Villamartin adds to the beauty of the place.

Among many species, the most common found in this residential complex are:

• The Stone Pine (Pinus Pinea), reaching over 25 meters in height, with unique trunks and umbrella shaped tops.
• Lady of the Night / Night-blooming Jasmine (Cestrum Nocturnum), an evergreen shrub that flowers from spring all through summer known for its fragrance that impregnates the hot summer nights.
• The European Fan Palm (Chamaerops Humilis), the only palm tree native to the European continent.
• Oleander (Nerium Oleander), a tall and thick shrub that can reach 5 meters in height, with attractive white, yellow, pink or red flowers, of up to 40mm.
• The Red River Gum Tree (Eucalytus Camaldulensis), ), an evergreen tree that can reach 30-40 m and a diameter of 12-15 m.
• The Weeping Benjamin (Ficus Benjamina), one of the most beautiful shrubs, thus a great decorative element. It survives the outdoors in tropical climates, including full sun, makes it ideal for the Mediterranean Coast.
• Pigmy Date Palm (Phoenix Roebelenii), one of the finest and most elegant palm trees. It is a species that can reach up to 5 meters.
• Ground Morning Glory (Convolvulus Mauritanicus),a plant that produces deep bluish purpled trumpet-shaped flowers and fills the environment with its beauty.

Fauna

The Villamartin residential complex contains a variety of animals. Among the existing fauna, it is worth mentioning the following species:

Birds:

• Geese, from the Anserinae subfamily
• Ducks, from the Anátidas family
• Red-legged Partridges (Alectoris rufa)
• Eurasian Collared Doves (Streptopelia decaocto)
• Wood Pigeons (Columba palumbus)

These are the species easiest to spot all year round due to their size and behaviour.

• One must not forget to add the African Parakeet to the Villamartin fauna.

Also, it is easy to spot other animals at Villamartin such as:

• Squirrels (Sciurus vulgaris)
• Rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus)
